Meet the Team
Meet the Team
Our alpacas have been escorting guests around the lovely woodland of Burnt Fen for 14 years so they know they`re stuff! We have around 40 alpacas at Burnt Fen and they are very much part of our family. They all have distinct personalities and we guarantee that when you meet them you will fall in love with them!
Alpacas are shy but inquisitive and very much enjoy checking out our visitors. We have been breeding alpacas in Norfolk for over 20 years and have all colours, ages, shapes and sizes and they're all gorgeous!

What Happens
What Happens
Firstly you are introduced to the alpacas and learn about how to behave around them as they can be quite shy at first. When everyone is happy (human and alpaca), we round up the boys who are trained for walks and you choose and catch your alpaca - always an interesting moment! We then set off for our walk through the lovely meadows and woods of Burnt Fen.

How Long Does it Take
How Long Does it Take
Our alpacas only go out walking once a day as we want the walk to be as fun for them as it is for you. We go out at 10:30am, so you will need to arrive by 10:20am. Please allow roughly 2 hours for your visit as the alpacas do love to snack as they walk!

Alpaca Amble - What to Wear
Alpaca Amble - What to Wear
Alpaca walking is more of an amble than a forced march as they like to browse for snacks along the way and sometimes have a good scratch in the hedges. Sturdy shoes and long trousers are best as some of the more adventurous alpacas do like to venture off the path in search of interesting morsels!

At the end of your walk you are welcome to make yourself a hot drink and mingle with the alpacas, some will no doubt mosey on over for carrots which we provide. You are also welcome to visit my studio where I work with our fleeces to make handwoven and handknitted alpaca textiles.

The Great British Weather
The Great British Weather
Alpaca walking is of course an outdoors pursuit and living in this lovely country
the weather at times can be somewhat damp,
so please dress accordingly and fingers crossed for sunshine! Sadly if the weather is really bad we may have to cancel the walk and will rearrange or refund as necessary.
Our walking season runs from April to September.
